Le Mark Group has received official thanks from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) Area Fundraising Manager, Mark Spruce, for their support. Stuart Gibbons, Le Mark Managing Director, met Mark during the National Festival and Boat show held in Nottingham in 2009.
"Le Mark was engaged in a series of direct to public demonstrations of their specialist self-fusing silicone Kraken Tape" said Stuart. "It was well know that Kraken Tape had some well documented links to the marine and offshore industries. In particular the 'deep sea' and transatlantic sailing fraternity, where Kraken Tape is used as the 'must have' all-weather emergency repair tape"
Le Mark have agreed a 12 month company support package with the RNLI where an agreed percentage of Kraken Tape and Le Mark sales would be donated to the RNLI. "Its been something we have been pleased to do" commented Stuart. "Our customers liked the link and they were pleased to support what we were doing".
The RNLI is an independent charity, funded by voluntary donations and run by volunteers across the UK and Republic of Ireland united by selflessness, skill and courage providing 24-hour lifeboats and seasonal lifeguards dedicated to saving lives at sea. Whether you go to sea for work or pleasure, the RNLI is always there to help in an emergency. "In November 2009, it was on what had previously been dry land that we were needed," commented Mark. "Not many people would have excepted to see an RNLI inflatable sailing along Cockermouth High Street but when the River Cocker burst its banks and lives became at risk, we were there."
Mark Spruce visited Le Mark's recently completed warehouse and productions facility at Houghton Hill Industries in St. Ives where he presented Stuart with an RNLI Certificate of Appreciation. It was an opportunity for Mark to see for himself the home of Kraken Tape and meet the entire Le Mark team. On his visit, he ensured that no-one at Le Mark was left unrecognised by giving everyone a small gift of thanks (an RNLI Irish linen Life Boat tea towel) for their help and support.
