PALME 2007 Exhibition in Dubai was once again a great success and seemed to show a substantial increase over last year in visitors coming from America, Asia and Europe as well as the GCC countries.

Over 260 companies, representing 35 countries, exhibited at PALME 2007, with the major lighting companies on show via their local agents. It certainly proved a good opportunity to see the latest fixtures and the endless possibilities that modern equipment offers for stage, studio and events or architectural uses.

Here you will find some notes on the exhibition strictly from a lighting point of view. PALME 2008 is already arranged for April 27 - 29 and, with the prospects of an even bigger and better show than ever, I am sure that we will all be meeting up again in Dubai.

The Professional Lighting Systems department supply, install and maintain stage lighting and design light shows for events and displays, with TV studios and architectural lighting a speciality. Tony Shembish and his team displayed the latest High End equipment from the Road Hog lighting console to their DL Digital Lighting range.

Cenk Yildiz was exhibiting state of the art sound and lighting equipment with 8kW Xenon Space Cannon luminaires (stock of 150 pcs) and Stark Image Projectors (stock of 15 pcs) in evidence. Also with a large inventory of PARs, spots, wash lights and moving heads, this Turkish company is in a unique position operating also in Russia and the Gulf countries.

Even2 (Event Technology Rental FZC) is a joint German-Arabic company based in Ajman in the UAE, introducing European know-how to the Middle East. Modern truss systems, motors and stage platforms built according to European standards, ensure creative and safe solutions for all kinds of live shows. Launching the company at PALME in Dubai, Even2 demonstrated Cyberhoist and InMotion 3D, the world’s most advanced positioning system, moving trusses, stage elements and exhibition pieces to the correct positions with speed and precision.

Now with a Middle Eastern office in Dubai, this well-known British company offers replacement lamps for digital projectors and rear projection TVs. The website offers easy identification of the lamps by selecting the projector manufacturer and then model number. Avinash Dowlwani heads the operation here; he will be pleased to take care of your needs.

On the centre of the stand was the the Architectural Exterior 1200 luminaire which is designed for spectacular illumination of high-rise structures, bridges and landmark architecture. With full colour mixing, the CMY system blends the primary colours Cyan, Magenta and Yellow to achieve a full spectrum of luminous colours. These colours, variable in hue and saturation, can be programmed to shift smoothly from shade to shade to create truly dynamic architecture.

The range of fixtures on display was amazing from moving heads and spot lights to colour washes for architectural installations.
