The next Light Middle East exhibition will take place at the International Conference and Exhibition Centre in Dubai on 25-27 May 2008
Published: 25 November 2007
Light Middle East (LME) is a trade event for urban, architectural, theatrical and retail lighting in the Middle East. Lighting design in Middle East architecutre is on an upsurge, especially in Dubai where direct trade in lighting equipment in 2006 increased by 16.3% compared to 2005. This robust growth reflected an expanding market for urban, architectural and retail lighting solutions across the region. According to data compiled by the Statistics Department of Dubai World, the trade in lighting equipment was worth US$345.8 million in 2006, an increase of $49 million over the previous year.
According to LME, the exhibition is an international networking event in the region for people involved in light and lighting, focusing on the aspects of light design and the latest technologies within the industry. The organization says it is the region's only dedicated exhibition and conference for architectural, corporate, retail, theatrical, interior and exterior lighting for urban spaces.
LME hopes to build on its 2007 show, which provided an opportunity for exhibitors to network with industry peers and meet major clients, experts, leading lighting designers and eminent architects involved in the delivery of major public and private development projects.
The organization announced an update to its 2008 exhibitor and advisory panel, recognizing the need to keep pace with changes in the industry, to bring new perspectives and ensure the event remains guided by the industry, shaping a pivotal experience for the region.
Silke Zachrau, the senior show manager for Light Middle East, said, "The reformed panel, which includes Osram, Philips, FibrePros, WILA, Martin Architectural and the emerging expertise of Cinmar Lightings, ensures that Light Middle East continues to address the needs of clients and specifiers through the choice and solutions provided by exhibiting companies."
Philips will once again be a key member of the advisory panel, having committed fully to LME's aim of being the only annual meeting point for the regional industry. DP Smedema, General Manager for Philips, was delighted with the outcome of LME in 2007, and said that: âWe are pleased to have seen Light Middle East grow into the leading lighting exhibition of the Middle East. The interest in our lighting solutions surpassed our expectations and we are delighted with the results and the potential business opportunities that the exhibition has generated. The ELDA+ conference was a truly exceptional opportunity to bring together knowledge and talent from the world's leading lighting designers."
