MELDA honours top Middle East lighting projects
Middle East competition recognizes innovation in lighting projects across the region
Published: 17 June 2007
The inaugural Middle East Lighting Design Awards (MELDA) has recognized the outstanding use of lighting in the Gulf Co-operation Council territories.
The awards were presented at the MELDA gala dinner, which took place during the recent PALME Middle East exhibition in Dubai.
The standard of this year's entries reflected the remarkable pace of development and scale of new commercial projects in the region.
Paul James, a member of the adjudicating panel, commented that since light levels in the Middle East tend to be higher than in Europe, he was pleased to see energy efficiency at the forefront of many of the designs.
Claire Brookes, Event Manager for MELDA on behalf of IIR Exhibitions, was delighted with the huge amount of interest generated by the awards. "It is clear that this initiative has had a major impact in boosting lighting creativity in the region," she said.
Building on the success of this year, the date for next year's event has already been set for 28th April 2008, so don't forget to put it in your diary.
