Robe to light Eurovision 2007
Over 450 Robe moving lights will be utilised in a spectacular lighting design for the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest.
Published: 9 April 2007
The Czech-based lighting company Robe has secured the contract to rig out the Eurovision Song Contest, which this year will be held in Helsinki, Finland.
Having worked with the company in Kiev for the 2005 contest, Ola Melzig, Eurovision's technical production manager, contacted Robe. Harry von den Stemmen, its international sales manager, agreed to work with Eurovision again.
The rig will feature spot- and flood-lighting, as well as LED panels for mood and ambience. Philips will supply all required light bulbs.
Owing to the size of the venue, communication and control will rely on an Ethernet network.
Robe comments that all its fixtures ear-marked for the show have already been re-sold to regional companies, who will receive them once the show is over and the rig dismantled.
